About Us

Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, an autonomous institution under Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India, has been a pioneer in the field of school education since its establishment in 1964. KVS has more than one million students on its roll. Training of teachers and non teaching staff is an integral part of the organisation. Every year, thousands of employees are provided with refresher training programmes. It is not an exaggeration if it is stated that KVS is the only organisation in the school education system where thoroughly planned courses are held on a regular basis. In the year 2009 alone, 128 training programmes were held at different venues all over India, of which 22 were conducted at ZIET Mumbai. Keeping in view of the pivotal role of training for employees and to further augment the efforts, a focused approach was felt necessary. Accordingly, one Zonal Institute was established at Gwalior in November 2002. Zonal Institute Mumbai came into existence from 1-4 -2003.

Staff

The institute is presently headed by Dr. V K Agrawal who has more than 13 years of teaching experience followed by 18 years of academic administration in Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan. He was the Assistant Director of Education in the G.N.C.T. of Delhi during 1995-1996 and the Regional Director of ERC NCTE, Bhubaneswar during the period 1999 to 2000. He has gained wide experience in monitoring the functioning of Teacher Education Institutions located in 11 States . As Principal of KVS he has served in Silchar, Ahmedabad, Gwalior, Dehradun, Chandigarh and Kathmandu.

       We draw faculty for various training programmes from amongst the practising, experienced principals and teachers of Kendriya Vidyalayas. Experts are invited from local academic institutions in the relevant fields.

         Activities & programmes of the institute are controlled by Academic Wing of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, New Delhi.

         The functioning of all the 4 Z.I.E.Ts (Mumbai, Mysore, Gwalior and Chandigarh) are looked after by Deputy Commissioner (Trg) under Joint Commissioner (Acad).
